Bagasse pulp is one of non-wood pulp. It has become the main objective of EPPCO to produce such a pulp. Bagasse pulp gives rise to environmentally friendly paper( or eco-friendly paper), which use non-wood pulp as raw material to preserve trees in the forests . Quality of bagasse pulp can be used in many paper and paper board without deterioration of paper quality. Japan, Thailand and India have used bagasse pulp as raw material for paper for a long time. But, in the past, bagasse pulp production is limited by;
- Decentralization of raw material resource, which causes difficulties collection and transportation and, therefore, incurs high cost . Consequently , there are only a small number of non-wood pulp mills in the world and the size of each mill is not so big.
- Difficulty of grinding of non-wood pulp in paper making process. A grinding of wood pulp and non-wood pulp use a difference technical method to control the paper quality. If the system controller doesn't have enough experience in grinding of non-wood pulp. there is a steep learning curve to master such a skill.
