TYPES OF PULP



Bamboo pulp

Pulp obtained from bamboo stems.

Bagasse pulp

Pulp obtained from sugar mill.

Chemical pulp

 

Pulp obtained by removal from the raw material of a considerable part of those non-cellulosic components that be removed by a chemical treatment, for example cooking, subsequent mechanical treatment is not necessary to achieve defibration.

Mechanical pulp
 
A high-yield pulp produced from wood by a variety of mechanical pulping processes.It is characterized as a woodpulp with high lignin content.
Kraft Pulp
 

The alkaline pulping process that uses  a combination of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulphide. It is derived  from the German word meaning “strong”, a fitting term since Kraft  pulp is the strongest chemical pulp. An  alternative term is sulfate pulp.

Wood Pulp
 
Pulp produced by pulping processes in which wood is the raw material. By contrast, pulp produced from grasses, straw, and other annual plants are called nonwood pulps.
Hardwood Pulp
 

Any pulp made from a hardwood or mixture of hardwoods.

Softwood Pulp
 

A pulp made from softwood or coniferous wood species.

Straw Pulp
 
Papermaking pulp obtained from cereal straws.It is used in the manufacture of corrugating medium and less exppensive multi-ply filler-type paper
Sulphite Pulp
 

Pulp obtained by cooking the raw material with a bisulphite liquor.

Sulphate Pulp
 

Pulp obtained by cooking the raw material in a liquor containing essentially caustic soda, sodium sulphides and possibly other compounds, such as black liquor.
